Town Planner
Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company or DPZ, were the Town Planners for the Village of Providence. The design team was lead by the world famous Andres' Duany, known as the father of traditional town planning and new urbanism.
The week long Charrette was held in downtown Huntsville, with input from area residents, State, City and County leaders, local architects, engineers and the development team of Town Makers, LLC. The Charrette results were nothing short of amazing, turning the Village of Providence into an instant success story and a local and national model for sustainable growth.
DPZ, was founded in 1980 and has designed over 220 new towns and revitalization projects for existing communities. These designs have had an influence in changing the practice and direction of town and urban planning in the United States.
The firm's early project of the town of Seaside, Florida is the first traditional town to be built in the United States since World War II. Time Magazine featured Seaside as one of the Best of the Decade.
